The most popular work our roofers in Leeds carry out are slates. Looking across Leeds and surrounding areas such as Wakefield, Halifax, Bradford, hull have majority of their roofs done in slate. Most of our customers like to stick with what they have thus slate roofing repairs being most popular among our customers. No matter what type of tile or slate you have on your roof we can help. A damaged or leaking roof can seriously affect your property by causing damp or water damage of the ceiling and walls or contents such as equipment of furniture. Its essential to address any damage to your roof quickly before the situation worsens. Our Roofers can have your problem sorted in as little as 48 hours. It is a good idea to inspect the inside of your roof at least once annually to check that it’s still weatherproof and there is no woodworm infestation. Repeat your check in different weather conditions. A check after heavy rain will reveal any water ingress as a result of any defects in the structure. A check in winter weather will reveal any condensation within the roof space. When inspecting you roof from outside at ground level use we may use binoculars to look for slipped or dislodged tiles. If tiles or slates have slipped there may be a difference in color to those around them. At the ridge line check for missing ridge tiles and gaps in mortar and at flashing around chimneys. One of the most obvious signs is pieces of mortar laying on the ground or on the other tiles on the roof. Replacing roof tiles with other tiles? Building Regulations acknowledge that when stripping and re-tiling an existing roof the replacement tiles or slates may impose a substantially heavier load than the original roof covering. Also, there may be occasions when the new material imposes a substantially lighter load than the original roof covering. If the replacement roof covering was significantly heavier then there is the risk that the roof structure may collapse if it is not designed to carry the extra weight. If an heavier roof covering is to be used, then a qualified structural engineer must carry out a survey and advise on any roof structure strengthening which may be required. If the replacement roof covering was significantly lighter then there is the risk that the roof structure may be lifted or otherwise damaged in high winds. Many older roofs are not physically fixed to the building and instead rely on the weight of the tiles or slates to prevent uplift. If a lighter roof covering is to be used, then a qualified structural engineer must carry out a survey and advise on any roof structure strapping and bracing which may be required. Here's what some of our customers say about us about our roofing and guttering services. |
Dr Roofing Gutters came out to our property promptly, we had a leak due to those heavy wet days in august. I called up and they were available the same day. I had already had another roofer not fix the problem so was a little reluctant but Dr Roofing got the job done and tested, I asked if they would kindly pour a 1l bottle of water over area that was fixed and lo and behold no leak, its also rained since so its tested true now. Top job guys thanks.

What will happen whilst the contractor is on site?
The roof contractor should give a guide on the time to be taken – but this may vary due to bad weather, or if extra work outside the original estimate has to be done. The contractor will try to keep the work site clean but space for storage and a skip may be required. Scaffolding is likely to be erected and must be out of bounds to children and any other unauthorized persons. What happens after contract completion? All waste, scaffolding etc should be removed by the contractor. If you have employed an architect, engineer or surveyor to oversee the work, he should be asked to complete his inspection asap, list any defects and hand these to the contractor. The contractor should inspect on completion. You, as the client, should settle the account as soon as possible because unnecessary delay or ‘retention’ will cause the contractor liquidity problems. |
